New release: “White” (song by Monica Dennington)

White

Words & music by Monica Dennington © 2005

This song was inspired by the Ted Dekker book, “White”(Book 3 of the The Circle Series), and the real-life story of Christ and his Bride.

Though one of my favorite songs I’ve written, it was never recorded in a studio or released to the public.

This is a raw live recording captured at the Tic Toc Loft in 2006. We’ve decided its time to let it see the light of day.

“White” is an allegory about the unconditional love of Christ and letting our old self die to become new—”drowning” our sinful nature in baptism, and coming up clean, clothed in God’s love.

This is my love story, and I hope it becomes yours. I pray all of us would come to know the love of this King

This God who sings to you now— “Do you want to see?”

Lyrics

{verse 1}

You were the hard one

I was the fool

It was all that I could do

You were so afraid – afraid to start

And you were breaking my heart

But nothing can convince me you’re not beautiful

And nothing can convince me you’re not mine

Everything about you is so beautiful

So every night I sit here by your side

Just to watch you breathe as you fall asleep

Even though it’s killing me –

to watch you dream of everybody

else but me…

So I brush back your hair and I pray

Father, let this be the day

{chorus}

Do you want to see?

May I kiss you, finally?

and wipe your tears away –

Please, let this be the day

Let this be the day

{verse 2}

You came to me haughty

You came so cold

And your eyes were white and old

I told you a story – you could not hide

Baby, you laughed until you cried.

And I saw you in the window

you said you’d come

And through the desert we,

the desert we would run

You said that you loved me

But you’re too afraid to die –

so I kissed you when we cried

And I said,

“Do not be, do not be afraid anymore.

You’re with me, come drown with me,

Walk through that door.

{chorus}

Do you want to see?

May I kiss you, finally?

And wipe your tears away –

Please, let this be the day

Let this be the day

{bridge}

I don’t want to wait anymore,

I don’t want to wait anymore,

I just want to be with you,

with you

I don’t want to wait anymore,

I don’t want to wait anymore,

I just want to be with you,

with you

{chorus}

Do you want to see?

May I kiss you, finally?

And wipe your tears away –

Please, let this be the day

Let this be the day
